The Short Story of a Mad Dog Owner (That’s Me )

As the owner of a rambunctious, troublesome Keeshond, I can honestly say that this ebook saved my sanity!  Before reading it, my dog was driving me crazy.  He would wake up in the middle of the night and bark incessantly for no reason, try to bite my friends when they came to visit, and dig up my garden.  In short, he was an absolute menace! I was at my wits end, and seriously considered taking him to the pound.  But, I raised him since he was just a pup, and he did hold a special place in my heart. This is not your typical ebook!  That is, it is jam packed with very detailed information, and it’s extremely comprehensive. Rest assured, the information contained in this book is 100% reliable, as the author, Daniel Stevens, is an experienced dog trainer.  In his book, Stevens shares his vast amount of knowledge in an easy to understand, step-by-step manner.  The tips and advice given have been tested and proven; they are all rooted in Stevens’ experiences as a professional dog trainer in the real world.

The large amount of information contained in this guide is quite impressive to say the least. It does not only address dog behavior problems. Rather, the book begins with advice for new dog owners (how to select a puppy/dog, info. on different dog breeds, how to puppy/dog proof your home, the first visit to the vet, housetraining your dog , etc).   Then, the book sheds light upon more advanced topics, such as:  behavioral problems (aggressive dog behavior, dominance, excessive barking, digging, jumping, whining, biting, separation anxiety, and the list goes on), obedience commands at the intermediate level, dog problems that are related to health issues (allergies, fleas, heatstroke, etc), and advanced commands and tricks.

My Favorite Part:
There is a particularly interesting section about dog whispering, a dog training approach that revolves around the ideas of clear communication and reciprocal respect between a dog and his owner.  Recently, a man by the name of Cesar Millan, aka “The Dog Whisperer”, has made this method of training popular, and it is becoming renowned as an alternate, more humane way to discipline and train your dog (I told you that I like to do things differently).  Stevens gives insight into the origins of this method of training, and explains how to use voice and body language to one’s best advantage. He also points out ways to use dog whispering to his easily, confidently, and effectively train a dog.  Directions are spelled out, step-by-step, for common obedience commands (sit, stay, down, quiet, etc).  This new technique really helped me cope with and train my defiant pooch!
